What is scrip & why should I get some?
What is scrip? Scrip is regular gift cards and paper gift certificates for specific stores, restaurants & services that provide discounts to non-profits for fundraising.
Why should I buy scrip? Scrip costs you, the customer, nothing. When you order a $50 gift card, you get a $50 gift card. The merchant gives the school a percentage and that’s how we raise money. So, essentially everyone can help raise needed funds for the school without spending any extra money.
How do I order scrip? You give your order to the Rivergate office by the end of the school day Monday with your payment (check or cash).
When will I get my scrip? Scrip is always available by the end of the day Friday. Sometimes it’s available by end of day Thursday.
Where can scrip be used? The scrip program has added a $50 Citibank Visa card this year that can be used anywhere Visa is accepted. Unlike many other Visa gift cards there is no activation fee. All other scrip can be used at the designated store(s), restaurant(s), etc. There are gift cards for Bridgeport Village and Lloyd Center that can be used at most, if not all, of the businesses in those malls. What is the benefit to Rivergate? The potential profit is limitless! The more orders we get, the more our profit is! Greater Participation = Greater Profits! The profit on your order may seem small sometimes, but keep in mind we have 100 or more families just within our student body & teachers. Add church members, grandparents, friends, etc. and the sky is the limit! 100 orders with only a $10 profit is $1000!
What is the benefit to me? As a private school Rivergate relies on parents, the conference and constituents to meet our needs. Anything we as parents can do to help raise money without spending anything additional is huge! Plus, this year Rivergate is offering a 1% rebate on scrip purchases to go toward your account. 1% of orders that are not designated to a student account will go toward scholarships.
How do I get started? Pick up an order form from the office or download it below. Fill it out and turn it in to Cambra with payment by the end of the school day Monday and you’ll get your scrip by Friday!
